Project overview

Wired Masters was a substantial project for Recording Rooms. The brief centred on creating accurate, reliable mastering environments for a team whose work depends on forensic listening and consistency. Three years after handover, this review reflects how the studios have performed under sustained, high pressure commercial use.

Operational impact

The team shared observations on how the rooms have shaped workflow and decision making since relocation. These points reflect regular use rather than one off impressions.

  • More first pass mixes approved, with key decisions made earlier in the process

  • Fewer mastering revisions

  • Increased revenue

  • Less time in sessions, while maintaining accuracy

  • More availability and faster turnaround

  • More attended sessions, despite the location being less convenient than the previous site

The consistency and predictability of the rooms have supported faster, more confident work. For a mastering facility running a full daily schedule, these changes are significant.

  • The studios and communal areas remain in near new condition, despite hosting multiple parties and events over the past three years. For facilities used continuously, this level of durability reflects both the construction approach and the resilience of the chosen finishes.

  • Any issues since handover have been minimal, and were dealt with quickly and professionally. Service agreements, including HVAC, have been upheld and continue to run smoothly. During this period, Recording Rooms also delivered an additional studio for Wired Masters, completed with minimal disruption to the business.

Reflections

This three-year review reflects how the studios perform under real commercial conditions, rather than being judged solely at handover. The feedback reinforces the value of accurate design, protecting acoustic intent during construction and maintaining support after completion.

The studios remain central to a workflow that depends on accuracy and repeatable results. Three years on, their performance in use reflects how the spaces work, both acoustically and operationally.

“Bottom line: we all have more faith and accuracy in what we’re delivering to our clients, which has made life easier. Our clients love the workspace and the vibe of the new studios. They still look pretty much as good as new, even after multiple parties and events over the past three years.”
