OUR SERVICES
Consultancy and Feasibility
Many studio projects begin with questions about feasibility, premises suitability, budget and programme. Our consultancy and feasibility work helps clients understand whether their brief can be delivered within the constraints of the building, and where risks or limitations exist.
The outcome is practical guidance on whether refurbishment, partial rebuild, full studio design and build, or relocation is the most sensible next step.
What we deliver
We provide pre-lease and pre purchase assessments, early acoustic and structural reviews, space planning studies and outline budget guidance. This work establishes whether the proposed rooms can meet the required acoustic performance, how the premises may influence isolation and building services routes, and what level of intervention is realistic.
Our guidance is grounded in built project experience, helping clients align their brief with the practical conditions of the premises and the commercial implications of each approach.
Technical and practical considerations
Feasibility work typically includes an assessment of structural type (reinforced concrete, timber joists, steel frame or composite construction), surrounding occupancy, airborne and structure borne noise risks, ceiling heights, plant capacity and the acoustic potential of the proposed spaces.
We also consider cable routes, mains power and distribution, technical earthing requirements, HVAC constraints and any planning, landlord or fire strategy considerations that may influence the design.
Space planning is carried out before detailed layouts to confirm that room sizes, adjacencies and technical flows are viable within the premises.
The outcome is a realistic understanding of what the building can support, and whether the brief, premises and budget are aligned.
We begin by defining the purpose and technical requirements of each room. A site visit and premises review follow, allowing us to identify constraints and assess acoustic, structural and building services potential.
We then develop space plans to test room sizes, adjacencies, technical cable routes and likely containment for building services, before moving into layout options. Each option is supported by clear technical reasoning, showing how the brief fits within the building, what limitations exist and where adjustments may be required.
Our reports set out the key risks, recommendations and cost ranges, giving clients a reliable basis for deciding whether to proceed, and which premises or approach provides the strongest foundation for the next stage.
